At the University of Liverpool’s Bengaluru campus, you’ll build knowledge of the systems behind modern technology, develop and refine software, and tackle real-world problems with innovative solutions. 

    This discipline spans a broad range of topics. In your first year, you’ll build a solid foundation in programming, computer systems, data structures, algorithms, and an introduction to artificial intelligence. As you progress, you can choose to develop specialist knowledge in areas such as AI, Algorithms, or Data Science. You will graduate with a globally recognised Computer Science BSc (Hons) and the skills to thrive in the ever-evolving global tech industry.

    For the University of Liverpool’s UK campus, this programme holds accreditation by BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT, fully meeting the academic requirements for registration as a Chartered IT Professional. 

    Students can transfer between Computer Science and Computer Science with Software Development in the first year of study.

    Year one

    Your first year will be about building a solid foundation in Computer Science fundamentals. Starting with an introduction to procedural programming using commonly found language platforms, you’ll move on to learn about the importance of hardware and software components within computer systems, formal analytic techniques, and the development of artificial intelligence.

    In your second year, expand your understanding of software and database development. You’ll also have the opportunity to explore specialised topics that interest you, such as cyber security, computer-based trading in financial markets, and the principles of computer games design.

    This programme of modules provides a holistic foundation to Computer Science skills, and the flexibility to choose optional modules in specific areas that interest you most. We also offer a bespoke Software Development pathway on the Computer Science with Software Development BSc programme.

    Fees and funding

    Annual tuition fees*

    Tuition fees cover the cost of your teaching and assessment, operating facilities such as libraries, IT equipment, and access to academic and personal support.

    Admission fees

    Admission fees are a one-time charge collected to process a student’s application and secure their place at the university.

    Entry requirements

    Applicants must fulfill the following criteria to be eligible for the Computer Science BSc programme at the University of Liverpool, Bengaluru.

    Eligibility criteria

    • Indian boards: Applicants must have completed Class XII (CBSE/ISC/State Boards/Cambridge A Level) with a minimum 75% average across four core subjects, with at least 75% in Mathematics at Class X
    • International Baccalaureate (IB): Applicants must have a minimum of 32 points overall, with no score below 4. This must include at least grade 5 in HL Maths or HL Computer Science. For English, grade 4 SL/HL is required for English A, or 6 HL / 5 SL for English B For Mathematics AA/AI, grade 5 HL or SL is required. Mathematical Studies is not accepted. Alternatively, applicants may pass the IB with scores of 6, 5, 5 in three HL subjects, including HL Mathematics or HL Computer Science
    • A-levels (UK/Cambridge A Level): Applicants must have a minimum of ABB with Mathematics or Computer Science, and at least a GCSE Mathematics grade C/4 and a GCSE English grade C/4
    • Other countries: You can find details about specific equivalences on the relevant programme page for our Liverpool campus.

    English language

    Applicants must demonstrate proficiency in English. This can be met through one of the following:

    • Standard XII English: Minimum 70% from CBSE, CISCE, Cambridge A Level, or state boards
    • International Baccalaureate (IB): Minimum Grade 5 in English A (SL/HL) or minimum Grade 7 (SL) and Grade 6 (HL) in English B
    • Cambridge IGCSE: Minimum Grade C/4 in English (First Language) or minimum Grade B/6 in English (Second Language).

    In some cases, and depending on the overall university requirement, applicants may be asked to provide a recognized English language test such as IELTS or TOEFL in addition to school-level qualifications.

    Predicted grades (provisional criteria)

    Students who have not yet received their final Class XII results may still apply. In such cases, Class XI or Pre-Board scores can be considered for a conditional offer.

    Statement of purpose (SOP) / Personal statement

    All applicants are required to submit a statement of purpose / personal statement as part of their application.
